לומדי כאן: משפטי הוראות הם כמו שביל עם שלטים. כל פסיק הוא פנייה לצעד הבא, ו-finally אומר שהגעתם לסוף. ב-neither … nor אל תוסיפו עוד not, כי השלילה כבר שם.
פסוקיות ראשיות שמסודרות בסדר
פסוקית ראשית (main clause) היא משפט שיכול לעמוד לבדו. אפשר לשרשר כמה פסוקיות כאלה כדי להסביר סדר פעולות, למשל כשנותנים הוראות או הסברי דרך. מפרידים ביניהן בפסיקים ומחברים במילים כמו and, then, after that, finally. דוגמה מהתוכנית: To reach my house, go down the avenue facing south, then turn left at the first traffic lights, after that walk 500 meters and my house is on your right. ודוגמה למתכון: Boil the water with a pinch of salt, add the pasta, cook for 11 minutes and finally pour the pasta into a strainer. זה נלמד בכל שלוש הרמות.
איך כותבים הוראות טוב
כל פעולה היא פסוקית משלה, ובדרך כלל פותחים אותה בפועל בצורת הבסיס (הוראה). הפסיק מפריד בין שני צעדים רצופים, וה-and מופיע לפני הצעד האחרון, לעתים עם finally. אפשר להוסיף מילות סדר כדי שהקורא ידע איפה הוא נמצא: then (אחר כך), after that (אחרי זה), finally (לסיום). הסדר במשפט הוא גם סדר הפעולות במציאות, ולכן לא מחליפים ביניהן. דוגמה משלנו: To make tea, boil the water, pour it into a cup, add the tea bag and finally add a little sugar.
סיפור: כמה פסוקיות ראשיות ומילות קישור שונות

neither … nor מדגיש ששני דברים אינם נכונים. הוא נמצא בפסוקית השנייה או במשפט תשובה, ואין צורך בעוד not. דוגמאות מהתוכנית: [Are you on social media?] No, I use neither TikTok nor Instagram. not only … but also (רמות 4 ו-5)
not only … but also מדגיש מידע נוסף וממוקד. החלק הראשון, not only, מציג סיבה או פרט אחד, והחלק השני, but also, מוסיף עוד אחד חשוב באותה מידה. דוגמה מהתוכנית: The restaurant atmosphere was pleasant, not only because it wasn't too crowded, but also because the waiters were friendly and helpful. דוגמה משלנו: The hotel was great, not only because the room was clean, but also because the staff was kind. אפשר לדלג על also בכתיבה מהירה, אבל בדרך כלל כותבים אותו. גם כאן, ברמת 3 יחידות אין תיאור.
